A Message From Our Business Manager

Greetings Brothers & Sisters,

It’s summertime, and Local 332 work is booming! The Silicon Valley commercial market is hot, driven by AI’s exploding need for data centers, as well as mandates to return to the office. Inside Book 1 members have options of where to go. There has been a steady uptick in S&C calls. Unfortunately, residential is suffering because of the continued high interest rates impacting the real estate market and new construction.

The electrical work on the books illustrates the complexity of the 332 skilled workforce. I am proud of our membership, and our “can do” union mindset. Our members are in demand on both the local and national fronts. We are solid representatives of what the IBEW is all about. Not only does 332 command the best wage packages in the country, but our innovation is leading the electrical industry into the future.

Applied Materials will take 300-500 wiremen in multiple shifts. There are currently 40 cranes flying; one is the largest in America.

Five data centers are in construction, and five more are in the pipeline. The ETASV is developing courses to support this work.

There are MOB and hospital buildings starting this fall. The ETASV is offering some upgrade courses to prepare members for this heavily inspected work.

If you have not been to the ETASV, it is our world class training center and the largest in Northern CA. Please consider the journeymen courses that continue to keep us competitive and the work rolling in!

I want to congratulate our Inside, Resi, and S&C apprentices on your graduations. It has been a long journey through Covid, masks, foggy glasses, social distancing, coursework, exams, and reviews for all of you. Here at IBEW 332, we are happy to be part of your continued journey. Now that you all are journeymen and techs, it’s your turn to pay it forward, so please be patient with the current apprentices!

Always Union,

Javier M. Casillas Business Manager
