November Election Local Results: IBEW Wins Big!

When it comes to politics, it’s actually our local elected leaders who have the most influence over 332’s work. In the November 5 election, we won all of our priority races of labor-friendly candidates and passed numerous ballot measures to advance IBEW members’ interests.

Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors: 332-endorsed Betty Duong won her seat, and now all five members of the board are labor-friendly. The supervisors passed a county-wide PLA a few years ago, which we use as the gold standard and a model for cities when we are lobbying. With Duong’s election, we can maintain a strong PLA for any Santa Clara County projects above $2 million.

San Jose City Council: 332-endorsed Domingo Candelas and Pamela Campos won their races to help us maintain our labor-friendly majority on council to maintain and strengthen our San Jose city-wide PLA. We will need to work hard to keep that fragile majority in the special election to fill the seat of Omar Torres, who resigned.

Ballot Propositions: A slew of state and local props passed that will lead to more IBEW jobs. More to come!

IBEW 332 Political Action Committee (PAC) meetings are the last Tuesday of the month.
