Meet Your Local 332 Business Reps

Nate Morris | Asst. Business Manager/Business Rep.

Years of service in IBEW 332: 17 years

Current 332 Role: Asst. business manager/residential organizer

Other roles held in 332: Residential apprentice/journeyman; inside apprentice/journeyman; JATC/ETASV trustee for 7 years; chairman for the ETASV trust on the labor side

What do you like about serving members? The best part is settling disputes between members and contractors. Most of the time, the contractors just need to be educated on what they did wrong, and they’ll fix it. If they don’t we move forward with the grievance procedure on the member’s behalf.

Importance of being union: There’s power in numbers: When the collective is all heading towards the same goal, the sky is the limit.

Favorite hobby: Being with my family, going on small road trips, and a few days at a resort or hotel

Person you’d like to have lunch with? My younger brother, Chris: He passed in 2020, and we didn’t get a chance to hug and say our proper goodbyes.

Will Smith | Business Rep./Executive Board

Years of service in IBEW 332: 25 years

Current 332 Role: Help direct the local’s political program, represent the members, and help with day-to-day operation of 332. I'm also on the executive board.

Other roles held in 332: Apprentice, journeyman, foreman, South Bay Labor Council delegate, Building Trade Council delegate, steward, examining board member, Political Action Committee chair, EWMC Executive Committee.

What do you like about serving members? I greatly appreciate when a member I have helped thanks me or sees me out in public and introduces me to friends and family: “Hey, this is Will Smith, my union rep.” The love that I feel always gives me a sense of joy, pride, and honor.

Importance of being union: The representation, unity, community engagement, and bonds you build throughout your career. Being union gives you representation to stand up to the employer and fight for better wages and conditions. We also give back to the community: food banks, bikes for children, giving to the needy, or walking a mile in her shoes for domestic violence awareness. 332 is consistently a contributor to our community.

Favorite hobby: I enjoy flying kites and drones on the beach on a nice sunny day.

Person you’d like to have lunch with? The other Will Smith, LOL, but for reals!

Importance of being union: The opportunity to have a lifelong career that can bring stability to one’s family

Hobbies: Softball fast-pitch umpiring; amateur boxing; keeping my yard beautiful; spending time with family and friends, especially my grandkids; taking my dog Marley for long, relaxing walks; traveling and seeing local history

Person you’d like to have lunch with? Coming from a boxing family, I would have like to have hung out with  Rocky Marciano.

Dan Sullivan | Business Rep./Executive Board

What do you like about serving members? I enjoy helping the younger members: answering their questions, helping them learn, and mentoring them with the knowledge (or lack thereof) that I might have.

Importance of being union: Before I joined the trade, I worked as a bartender at a restaurant and a hotel. The money was decent, but I could never save. Being union has been great! Higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions are available to us because of collective bargaining.

Favorite hobby: Golf, travel, live music, and going to sporting events.

Person you’d like to have lunch with? I would like to have lunch with my grandparents. They passed away over 30 years ago, and I miss them.

Importance of being union: It gives 332 members the power of  brothers and sisters standing behind them at all times.

Person you’d like to have lunch with? Admiral Chester Nimitz and find out how to motivate people during times of struggles as he did during WWII.

Current 332 Role: Business representative

What do you like about serving members? I find it fulfilling when I’ve been able to help solve an issue or answer questions. It’s important the members have someone they are comfortable talking to.

Importance of being union:  The use of our collective power to secure better wages, benefits, working conditions, job security, safety, and training are all benefits to being a union worker. We build up the people around us. I continue to be fortunate enough to be around people that help me succeed.

Favorite hobby:  Dining out with my wife and two kids. We pick a new restaurant once a week. It’s a way for us to explore different parts of the Bay Area, walk around, and enjoy good food and company.

Person you’d like to have lunch with? My dad: He passed away when I was young so one more chance to be able to talk to him man-to-man would be incredible.

Chris Maag | Business Representative

Years of service in IBEW 332: 24

Current 332 Role: Business rep. and ETASV instructor

Other roles held in 332: Apprentice, journeyman, foreman, general foreman

What do you like about serving members? Being a member of 332 has been great for me and my family. Being here at the hall is a great way to reconnect and help members that I have not seen for many years.  We help with the day-to-day issues here at the hall and on the job sites.

Importance of being union: Being here at the hall is a real eye opener. Every day you see wage theft, and one of the best ways to combat that is through unions. When you are able to be part of a collective bargaining unit, you always have a better chance of getting paid a fair livable wage.

Favorite hobby: I love baseball; I go to about 25 Giants games a year. Spending time with my family. Getting time to play video games is always a plus.

Person you’d like to have lunch with? My grandfather. When I was younger, I didn’t ask the questions I have now about family history, what was it like growing up in the '20s and '30s and really watching this country grow. I’d like to know about his time in the military during WWII and how it felt during his time abroad. And I’d catch up with him to let him know how our family is doing.
