Electrical industry workers receive state-of-the-art training at the Santa Clara County JATC (Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee). Union training is widely recognized as the most superior training in the electrical industry. Union workers are better trained and better prepared.
The Santa Clara County JATC is a joint effort between the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 332. The JATC’s mission is to recruit and train apprentices for the growing electrical contracting industry and to upgrade the skills of journeymen.
Apprentice Training
Apprentices in the electrical industry develop the necessary skills through paid on-the-job training and classroom instruction at the JATC. In order to complete the apprentice-training program, apprentices need 800 hours of classroom time and five years (8400 hours) of on-the-job training. (This requirement refers to Inside Wiremen).
Besides being paid while learning, the training program gives apprentices complete health and retirement benefits.
