Inside Wireman Apprenticeship
Exciting Career Opportunities
If you want to learn how to install wiring for one of the country’s hottest electrical contracting markets, the Inside Wireman's apprenticeship program is for you.
Inside Wiremen connect and maintain basic electrical and lighting systems in commercial, industrial and technical facilities. They also work on Commercial Photovoltaic Installations, Building Automation Systems, Traffic Signals, Trade Shows, etc.
Training Program
This is a five year apprenticeship program. Apprentices accepted to the program join Local 332 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and are dispatched by IBEW to Northern California’s premier electrical contractors to projects throughout Santa Clara County. Most of these contractors are members of the National Electrical Contractors Association, and all signatory (union) contractors are partners in the Santa Clara County Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). The JATC trains Apprentices and also offers classes to Journeymen of all classifications in the IBEW.
Throughout the program you the Apprentice works in the field during the day and attends pre-determined classes at the ElectricalTrainingCenter. These classes are offered at no direct charge to the Apprentice. A Journeyman certificate is awarded upon successful completion. As members of the IBEW, Union Electrical Workers in Santa ClaraCounty have a small amount per hour paid by the contractors into a fund. Other programs leave the graduate with a student loan to pay back and no direct connection to electrical contractors. The IBEW/NECA partnership provides a referral hall for the dispatch of Electrical Workers to contractors. As an Apprentice and later Journeyman you will have access to the IBEW Dispatch Hall to employment with electrical contractors at the Journeyman’s rate of pay (with fringe benefits).
